New patient consultation at Roots Chiropractic in Mesa, AZ

Trying something new can feel uncertain, especially when it comes to your health. If you've never been to a chiropractor, or never been to one that works the way we do, it's natural to wonder exactly what you're walking into. So let's remove the mystery. Here's a clear walkthrough of what happens at your first visit to Roots Chiropractic.

The short version: your first visit is about understanding you. We take the time to learn your health history, assess how your nervous system is functioning, and build a clear picture before recommending any care. You won't be rushed, and you won't be surprised by anything.

Before You Arrive

Once you schedule, we'll send you some electronic paperwork to complete ahead of time. Filling it out before your visit means less time on forms in the office and more time focused on you. We ask that it's completed at least 24 hours before your appointment.

Step One: Consultation and Health History

Your visit starts with a real conversation. We want to understand what brought you in, what you've been experiencing, your health history, your lifestyle, and your goals. This isn't a rushed checkbox exercise. The more we understand about your situation, the better we can help. This is your chance to share everything that's relevant and ask any questions on your mind.

Step Two: INSiGHT Nervous System Scans

Next come our INSiGHT scans, which are central to how we work. These are three non-invasive scans that give us an objective look at how your nervous system is functioning, where stress and tension are concentrated, where there may be nerve interference, and how your body is handling it all.

They're non-invasive and use no radiation. This step is what allows us to base your care on real information about your body rather than guesswork.

Step Three: Examination

We'll also perform a thorough physical examination, which can include assessing your range of motion and relevant orthopedic and neurological checks. This rounds out the picture of what's happening with your body.

Step Four: Digital X-Rays If Needed

In some cases, digital X-rays are helpful to complete the structural picture. These are taken only when clinically appropriate, and they're not performed on pregnant women or children. If you need them, we'll explain why. We have a digital X-ray system in-office for your convenience.

Step Five: Your First Adjustment

Here's where we're different from a lot of offices. Some practices spend your entire first visit gathering information and send you home without doing anything, telling you to come back another day before they lift a finger. That's not us.

When it's clinically appropriate, we deliver your first adjustment on day one. Using what we've learned from your consultation, scans, and examination, we make specific, personalized adjustments to start supporting your nervous system and helping your body function better. We want you to walk out of your very first visit knowing you've already taken a real step forward, not just filled out paperwork and scheduled another appointment.

Every adjustment is tailored to you and what your assessment revealed. There's nothing generic about it.

What Happens Next: Your Second Visit

Your second visit is your report of findings, and it's a big one. We walk you through everything your scans and exam revealed in clear, plain terms, so you finally understand what's actually going on in your body. Then we lay out a personalized care plan built specifically for your situation and goals.

This is the difference between guessing and knowing. Rather than being told to come back over and over with no explanation, you'll understand exactly what we found, what we recommend, and why. That clarity is the foundation of care that gets real results.

What to Bring and Wear

Just bring yourself and any relevant medical records or imaging you may have. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. That's really all you need.

No Pressure, Just Answers

By the end of your first two visits, you'll understand what's going on in your body and exactly what we'd recommend. No mystery, no pressure, just a clear picture and a plan.

If you're in East Mesa or Gilbert and ready to take that first step, we'd love to welcome you.
