What Are INSiGHT Scans, and Why Do We Use Them?

If you've looked into care at Roots Chiropractic, you've seen us mention INSiGHT scans. It's reasonable to wonder what they actually are and why we put them at the center of how we work. Here's a clear explanation.
In short, INSiGHT scans are a set of non-invasive assessments that give us an objective picture of how your nervous system is functioning. They let us measure what's going on rather than guess, which is the foundation of building care that's actually specific to you.
Why Measurement Matters
A lot of healthcare relies on how you describe your symptoms. That's useful, but symptoms only tell part of the story, and they can be misleading. You can have dysfunction building for a long time before it ever produces noticeable pain, and pain can show up in a place that's different from where the actual problem is.
INSiGHT scans help close that gap. Instead of relying solely on what hurts, we get objective data on how your nervous system is handling stress, tension, and function. It's the difference between guessing and knowing.
The Three Scans and What They Measure
INSiGHT technology uses three complementary scans, each looking at a different aspect of nervous system function.
The first measures patterns of stress and tension along your spine, showing us where your nervous system may be working harder than it should. The second looks at how your body is managing its stress response and overall balance, giving insight into whether you're stuck in that wound-up, fight-or-flight state. The third assesses muscle activity and tension around the spine, revealing areas of imbalance or strain.
Together, these create a detailed map of where dysfunction and interference are showing up, even in areas that aren't yet causing obvious symptoms.
They're Completely Non-Invasive
One of the things people appreciate is that these scans are gentle and non-invasive. There's no radiation and nothing intimidating about them. They're safe for adults, expecting mothers, and children alike, which is part of why we can use them across our whole practice.
How We Use the Results
The scans aren't just for show. They directly shape your care in a few important ways.
They help us build a care plan specific to your nervous system, rather than applying a generic approach. They give us a baseline, so as you progress through care, we can re-scan and see real, measurable change rather than relying only on how you feel day to day. And they help us explain to you, clearly and visually, what's actually going on in your body.
That last point matters. Most people have never been shown an objective picture of how their nervous system is functioning. Seeing it tends to make everything click.
Why This Reflects Our Whole Approach
INSiGHT scans aren't an add-on. They're a direct expression of what makes our care neurologically-focused. We center the nervous system, we measure it objectively, and we build everything around what we find. Measuring your nervous system rather than guessing at it is how we make sure your care is based on real information about your body.
